ReScript is being developed by the Institute of Historical Research to provide a platform,
and associated tools, for the collaborative editing of historical texts online.
The service is still in an experimental stage and most of the material and functions you find

About us
The Institute of Historical Research was founded in 1921 by A. F. Pollard. His original vision
for the Institute was that it would function as a ‘history laboratory’, experimenting with
new ideas and methodologies and leading the history profession in innovative and exciting
directions. Pollard and his successors were remarkably successful in this goal, but today
digital technologies offer the opportunity for even greater transformation of the processes
of historical research.
The IHR recognises that digital technology has become essential to historical scholarship;
IHR Digital helps the Institute to fulfil its remit to support the history profession in the
UK, by offering digitisation, consultancy and hosting services. It both provides digital resources
and supports those who create their own.
IHR Digital draws on the expertise of its staff, who have many years of experience in the
field. If you would like to talk to us about digital projects we would be delighted to hear
from you
